Official opening of the new production hall of Lufthansa A.E.R.O. GmbH in Alzey on 10 August 2002
Under the motto "New Orleans meets Lufthansa A.E.R.O." the staff, their families and everyone who was involved in erecting the new production hall on the A.E.R.O. grounds experienced a fascinating Southern states spectacle.
For one whole day more than 1000 people experienced the unique atmosphere of the Southern states. The festival visitors were introduced to the wonderful world of New Orleans music by American and European artist’s renditions of traditional songs. Everyone enjoyed the great tent village in South-Louisiana atmosphere with great street events such as shoe shine boys, street portrait drawers, a nostalgic photographer, step dancers and travelling entertainers. The catering side was also well looked after with a Cajun and Kreol kitchen spoiling the guests with Kreol cooking. A lively Brass & Marching Band accompanied by hostesses in typical Southern states costumes who hung a Mardi Gras necklace around everyone’s neck gave the guests a warm welcome. In a specially prepared children’s area the children of the employees prepared a typical New Orleans Mardi Gras procession which was accompanied by the Brass & Marching Band as one of the festival highlights.
